Pig and Whistle |
The Pig and Whistle lies on the west side of Sheen Lane at No. 86, just south of the junction with Upper Richmond Road. It opened in September 1988 on part of the site of the former Bull inn. When this new public house was opened there was some controversy about its name as many local people wanted it to be called the Bull. It is an independent large modern public house with a restaurant and accommodation in the rooms above.
The drawing on the left depicts the buildings on which the Pig and Whistle currently stands. These include the Bull Inn Livery Stables, a farrier, a cottage and WG Gutteridge's clock, watch and jewellery repair business. The upper floor of the Bull can be seen on the left.
