Hand and Flower |
The Hand and Flower was a beer house situated among a number of cottages on Queen's Road.
It was trading in 1871 when the landlord was Thomas Jackman. In the 1891 Census William Newton, who was originally from Devonshire, was the licenced victualler. He lived on the premises with Eliza, his wife who was from Norfolk, and their three children, William, May and Elvetia who were all at school.
There is no mention of the Hand and Flower in the 1898 Kelly's Directory or in the 1901 Census.
