Sheen Mount

Around 1850 the farmland which stretched from Sheen Common to the Upper Richmond Road was sold off and divided into twenty plots, mainly of one or two acres. Sheen Mount was built in 1852 – the first of these plots to be developed on the east side of Derby Road. It was built by Thomas Hare, a lawyer and political reformer, who was best known for his work on proportional representation. Sheen Mount Primary School stands on the site of the house.
