Park Cottage

Park Cottage was built in the early 19th century on the borders of Richmond Park and Palewell Common. Despite its name, it was a substantial house. Its most notable resident was Sir Edwin Chadwick, a senior civil servant devoted to public health and sanitary reform, and instrumental in the reform of the Poor Laws. He lived in Park Cottage from 1869 until his death in 1890.

The house was demolished in 1932 to make way for the present day Clare Lawn Avenue.
